Hi Joe,
Please don't think I have forgotten about your course. I'll come back to it on my return from Madagascar - if I ever get there. We are due to leave on Monday week but rioting has broken out. The group is now waiting with baited breath for news on Monday and advice from the FCO.
Teaching out there is, is going to be VERY different from a normal classroom situation; more of a weekly club, with up to 100 participants of all ages in one go!! It has been difficult preparing anything as I do not know what to expect and it would seem that 'education' is follows no set pattern. Books? What are these?
However I have managed to put lots of photos and a few songs etc on to a memory stick. I know there is a computer of sorts, a sheet for a screen and 7 hours of electricity - on a good day!!! My best find (I think) may be of interest to you and others. It is particularly useful for those of us invoved in conservation. Maybe you have discovered this DVD already. National geographic have recently been selling a video. I found it in WHSmith (sorry not Tesco :-p!) The video 'Nat Geo Most Amazing Moments' is made up of LOTS of short episodes on a wide variety of topics. The accent is American but slow and clearly spoken. I can see ways of using it with children and adults alike. What do you think?
