Please can you tell me if only TEFL Scotland qualifications will be accepted for this course and the reason if so. With regards to the accommodation, please can you advise whether it is 15 minutes walk or drive? I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi TEFL England or TEFL Scotland Certificates are accepted. To gain your TEFL qualification you will need to complete a course I am afraid.

Do you need to have a teaching degree or is a relevant degree acceptable with a TEFL qualification and experience in an educational setting for three years?
Comment by Amy at 10:12 on 21 January 2011.
Hi Laura, none of our job vacancies require a teaching degree or any teaching qualification beyond a TEFL England certificate. Some will ask for a degree for visa reasons, but there are also plenty of jobs available for those without degrees.

if i gained a tefl from an intensive weekend course, would this be sufficient as far as the number of hours required to be considered for future roles? my partner is looking at doing the same type of thing but doesnt hold a degree, why does this have an implication towards getting a visa?
Comment by Amy at 12:26 on 31 March 2011.
Hi Carl, the best advice would be to decide on where you want to teach. Different countries have different requirements. An intensive weekend course is enough for TEFL jobs in many countries, e.g. Spain and Japan, while others will ask for more. We always recommend taking at least 100 hours of study, as that makes you eligible for the widest range of jobs and more attractive to TEFL employers. Check our TEFL jobs section to see what employers are looking for. With regards to visas, certain countries like South Korea, have requirements that all foreigners wishing to work in the country must have a degree. There are many countries which do not have this requirement - again, check to see what the regulations are in the countries you want to work in. If you'd like some advice to your specific situation, do e-mail us on info@teflengland.co.uk and one of our TEFL experts can advise you.

Hi, Does TEFL England secure a placement abroad for you?
Comment by Amy at 14:50 on 11 April 2011.
Hi Mandy, We put you in touch with the schools and recruiters whose jobs are advertised on the site, and then you make your application to the ones you are interested in. You're welcome to apply to the many other TEFL jobs out there, but our vacancies are specifically chosen to be suitable for graduates of our courses. Hope that helps!

Hi Laura, before you can take up a teaching position abroad you will need to take a TEFL course to train. That way, you will know what to do when you get into the classroom! The most basic of TEFL courses can be done in one weekend, so it doesn't take long!
