TEFL in Cambodia

Finding work in Cambodia is fairly easy as long as you don’t turn up to interviews wearing shorts and a t-shirt! A university degree and a TEFL certificate will really boost your employability and you will certainly receive more job offers so you have the option of choosing a better school. The average wage is about $9-$11 an hour and the amount you earn will allow you to live very comfortably considering the cheap living costs in Cambodia. Sorting out a visa is no problem and can be done on arrival.
The country is well known for violence, prostitution and drugs and corruption is a problem at all levels – government and in schools, even. It is important that you are properly insured before heading out to Cambodia – make sure you’re safe! Despite these negatives many people still travel out to Cambodia to teach English. There are many positives to working in the country and many people find that the locals are exceptionally friendly and that the expat scene in Phnom Penh is fantastic.

“Wow! Passed my grammar with flying colours. Having fallen foul of a grammar question on the 50 hour course I decided to do the grammar course ASAP! This was a daunting prospect. However the excellent presentation of the course, clear instructions and a couple of tips from fellow students made it an enjoyable experience rewarded with an excellent grade and a huge boost to my self esteem. Thank you!” Rosemary Wilson, Peterborough
