TEFL Gap Year

Tens of thousands of university candidates have been rejected this year as budgets for universities shrink and the credit crunch has brought about the worst unemployment figures in 12 years, leaving many people wondering just what to do. Perhaps you intend on applying again for university next year and don’t know what you’re going to do with this spare year that has arisen. Or maybe you have your degree but don’t want to face the job market just yet. Maybe you’re one of the lucky ones who have a job but are itching to escape for a while and do something adventurous.

You’d like to travel but how are you going to afford it? Why not get paid to teach abroad something that already comes naturally to you? As a native English speaker you have the opportunity of experiencing a country in one of the most amazing ways possible. Teaching English as a Foreign Language means that you can get paid while you see the world!

Before you rush off to book flights, ask yourself this: you speak English well enough but do you know how to teach it? In some countries the fact that you are a native English speaker will be enough to get you employed somewhere, but do you really want to be standing in front of a class of children or even adults with no clue how you’re going to teach them the language you’ve spoken since before you can remember?

The first thing you need to do is to do some learning yourself so that you’re prepared for the job at hand.

TEFL England’s 20-hour weekend course will teach you how to deliver lessons and give you the qualification you need to start you off on your gap year in just a single weekend! You will be trained by an experienced and enthusiastic tutor from a training organisation with over 30 years combined teaching and training experience.

The cost of the course is £195 but you don’t come away with just a certificate and the ability to teach English. TEFL England provides a free service to help you find a job to anyone who has completed the course. With contacts in Thailand, South Korea, Czech Republic, China, Greece, Spain and more, TEFL England can help you find a job that’s right for you. You will also have support from people who have been out and done it so you can be sure that the advice you’re being given is coming from someone who knows what they’re talking about!

Sometimes people go off on a gap year and never come back because they love it so much! However, for those who intend their gap year to strictly be a gap year, you will probably be returning to the UK with the hopes of finding employment. The great thing about having taught abroad is that it really improves your CV so not only have you had an unforgettable year but you are left more employable by the end of it!

I am a retired GP and having been at the beck and call of patients for 40 years I wish to do some thing different. I worked in Milano for 10 years and love Italy. I am a qualified TEFL teacher and feel with my experience could help persons wanting to learn correct English.
