TEFL in Hungary

Finding work in Hungary may be a bit of a struggle if you are not TEFL qualified and do not have any teaching experience. However, there are many jobs across the country and in Budapest alone there are over 100 private schools, many of which have a desire to employ English native speakers. As English is a compulsory subject in Hungary, state schools are also keen to employ those who speak English as their first language and are suitably qualified. Your chances of finding work in Hungary are good but be careful going in with a work visa as changing your status if you find work can be difficult.
You can expect to earn about 100,000 forints (£340) per month if employed in the state sector. You may find that your accommodation is provided but otherwise if you are working in the city it is best to look for a flat on the outskirts. Some of your travel expenses may be covered along with other perks but this will depend on your school.
The capital, Budapest, is often considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Full of culture and history with a vibrant arts and music scene, Budapest will provide you with plenty to see and do. Hot springs and beautiful rustic towns are scattered all across the country and Hungary is also home to Europe’s largest and warmest lake, Lake Balaton. For anyone wishing to teach English in Hungary they will find it to be a beautiful home and a rewarding experience.

“I thought the activities were extremely fun, interesting and detailed. The tutor was also very upbeat and great to learn from - it was an excellent environment. I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of teaching a foreign language abroad. ” James, News Correspodent, Manchester
