TEFL in Thailand

The positions we have to offer in Thailand do not require a degree but you will need a minimum of a TEFL England 100 hour course. Thai teachers make about 8,000 baht a month but you can expect to earn about 30,000 so you’ll be living comfortably with the freedom to travel and explore the country. You will probably be teaching at a secondary state school and you don’t need to worry about finding accommodation as the school or our partner company in Thailand will sort it out for you! Contracts last 10 months and working hours are between 8:00am and 3:30pm.

There are job opportunities all across Thailand from Chonburi to Saraburi and Nan to Nakorn Nayok so do some research to work out where in the country you find most appealing. Even a low wage will allow you to live comfortably as living costs are very low so eating out and going for a drink is affordable regularly. Thailand is a beautiful country and its regions are geographically diverse – you will likely be able to afford to travel most weekends so you have the opportunity to experience and discover all that Thailand has to offer such as some of the best beaches in the world!

Hi, Can you offer any advice for unmarried couples looking for work in Thailand, as we have read it is best to avoid areas in Asia? Is it a complete no go or are there ways around it?thanks, Chris

Hi, I will be graduating from university with a BSc Human Psychology degree this year. I am currently looking at enrolling on a TEFL teaching course in the next couple of months to further my teaching experience. Having explored the TEFL website I am particularly interested in the teaching opportunities in Thailand and was wondering what job opportunities might be available this coming year? If there are likely to be any opportunities I was wondering if someone might be able to email me any relevant deadlines and contacts for application. Best Wishes, Laura

Hi Laura, the best way to find out about job vacancies as they come up is to sign up for our newsletter which you can do on the homepage. Any vacancies we get in Thailand will be promoted in there.

I finished 18 hours TEFL training in the UK but if I go to Thailand to take the 100hours TEFL course ,may I please know if there is a guarantee that I will have a teaching job after the course?

Hi Maya, It's never really possible to guarantee a job as you still have to submit an application and pass an interview - the school hiring you would want to see you can speak English and that you don't have three heads! There is a large demand for English teachers in Thailand though, so as long as you meet the requirements and put some effort into the application and interview, there is no reason you shouldn't find work. Our courses actually run in the UK and online rather than in Thailand. Don't worry, we don't expect you to jet off around the world to study (though we have many students who take the online course in order to do just that!).

It was interactive which made it a really fun and interesting way to learn. We learnt the theory first then got plenty of chances to put it all into practice. By the end I felt more confident about teaching an English language class. Deborah Wright, Unemployed, Cheshire
