TEFL in Venezuela

There is certainly a demand for English speakers in Venezuela with the necessity for English within the business and tourist industries increasing. The political climate has arguably put a lot of people off travelling to Venezuela in recent times – the country is going through a period of great change – but there are opportunities existing there for TEFL teachers.

If you’re looking to make lots of money by teaching English then don’t go to Venezuela as wages for English teachers are generally not very high. However, the opportunity to experience such a beautiful country with an interesting history is what draws people to the country rather than the wages.

The majority of the population live in the cities. The capital, Caracas, is situated near the coastline so you won’t be far from a gorgeous beach! In fact, Venezuela is ideal for any beach-lover with its coastline in the Caribbean Sea. The country borders Brazil, Columbia and Guyana and its diverse landscape is home to the world’s highest waterfall, Angel Falls which is in the south of the country.

Having recently achieved CELTA accreditation I am keen to teach abroad. My preferred location is South America - Venezuela or Costa Rica. I have an Hons Degree, can speak Spanish, have a Pass B CELTA and have accumulated some hours voluntary work teaching English to adults locally.
