Karl in China
Karl recently sent in some feedback from China, Karl attended the Edinburgh weekend TEFL course in December 2008.
What were you doing before?
Before I came to China to teach English I was working for a meat company in Northern Ireland as a maintenance worker.
How are you finding the teaching?
At first the teaching was difficult for me because it was a new experience for me and I didn't know how to communicate with the students, Now I find it much easier teaching as what I had learnt on the course is my guideline for my lesson plans while the games are a brilliant way to break the ice in every class to get the students talking.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I am learning Chinese at Sichuan Uni and meeting up friends I met here from the UK and Ireland.
When did you get to china?
I arrived in Cheng Du China in December as there were a few problems with the paperwork and then the air line company lost our luggage when we were coming out!!! So we had no change of clothes for 1 week.
Any other comments?
I would suggest that if anyone wants to go to teach in any foreign country they should do it because it is a different experience which they love and never want to quit, also if you want to learn how to teach then go to TEFL England as it will be the most fun way to learn the important teaching skills.
