Teaching in China: private language schools
Overview
Salary: 5,500 to 12,000 Yuan Renminbi (currently £500 - £1100)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Bonus: Contract completion bonus (amount varies from school to school)
Housing: Provided and paid for by school - sometimes a stipend is offered instead of an apartment
Airfare: this varies from school to school - sometimes the roundtrip is reimbursed and sometimes a predetermined stipend for airfare is offered.
Health Insurance: China doesn't have a national healthcare policy -sometimes a predetermined amount for medical costs is offered, and sometimes ex-pat travel medical insurance is covered by employer
Holiday: generally 2 weeks of holiday time in addition to national holidays
Working/teaching hours: 18 - 30 teaching hours per week
There is quite a bit of variation in the Chinese private language schools benefits. Generally, the teaching positions are in the western coastal area, including Shanghai and some in Beijing.
