You could be teaching at locations throughout Spain for up to 9 months.
Overview
Salary: Average €1100 (up to €1300 in the main cities), though this will vary with location. You will have a reasonable local salary.
Accommodation: Full support and assistance is given to find an apartment. Teachers often flat share and you can expect to pay €150 - €175 in more rural areas and up to €350 in cities like Madrid and Barcelona.

Locations: Positions are available throughout Spain, though the majority are in main cities like Barcelona and Madrid.
Contract length: From 3 months to 9 months, length of contracts depends upon when you start, for example, starting in January is 6 months until the end of June, when the academic year ends. The academic year starts in September. In most cases, contracts are renewable.
Departure dates: Monthly, September to April
Student age: Children and adults
Requirements
- TEFL qualification (minimum 20-hour TEFL England weekend course but more is preferable).
- University degree is preferable and advantageous, though not essential if you have a strong educational background.
- Minimum age requirement 21 years of age
- A motivating and enthusiastic personality
About the teaching
You could be teaching children General English or adults business English. You will be teaching in small privately-owned schools or in-company. There is usually a maximum of 12 students per class and classes are between 60 and 90 minutes. You will be joining well-resourced language schools and given the support you need in the classroom.
Pay and conditions
The average salary is about €1100, a little less in rural areas and more in bigger cities. You will be given lots of advice and help to find accommodation. The most common form of accommodation is a flat-share and you can expect to pay between €150 and €350 depending on your location. The cost of living is around €300 per month. You are entitled to school holidays and public holidays, which includes 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year and 10 days over Easter. Working hours are Monday to Friday and between the hours of 8am and 5pm. You would normally be working 4 -6 hours per day.
