Teaching English in Southern Thailand
Positions start 3rd May 2010
Anuban Nakhon Si Thammarat is a government school that operates an English Programme to 30-35 students from each pratom (Pratoms 1 to 6).
The programme is now nearing the end of its seventh year and offers a full range of curriculum subjects including Maths, Science, English, Art/Music/Drama, Computing, P.E, and Health. Our normal team consists of 7 foreign teachers from UK and America. Starting next term we will have a vacancy for an English teacher (although subjects can be changed to suit your area of expertise / preference).
Teachers are expected to have approximately 15 contact hours with the students each week and submit lesson plans in advance.
Starting salary is 30,000 baht per month, which increases by 2,000 baht per month for each completed year of contract (Maximum 40,000 baht).
All school and public holidays are paid and all help is given for work permit, visas, transport and housing etc.
Nakhon Si Thammarat is not what you would call a “Tourist Area”. The select group of foreigners that are here are usually teachers from other English Programmes in the area. This does tend to mean we receive special treatment when out and about in the town.
Nakhon does have a number of very nice beaches and waterfalls within a short trip and is also handy for trips to Krabi, Phuket, Surrathani, and the ferries to Koh Samui and Koh Tao.
There is often a group of foreign teachers heading off on a trip each weekend.
