TEFL Jobs in China - Countrywide
- TEFL England certificate - 100 hours
- University degree for full teaching position, not necessary for intern teachers
China really is a country like no other. If you are the kind of person who likes big, buzzing cities, or breathtaking landscapes then China has it all! On one hand you have Shanghai - not only one of the largest and wealthiest cities on the planet but also expanding at an incredible rate, like many cities in China. On the other hand you have Guilin, described by the Chinese as “heaven on earth” with its beautiful and unique scenery, karst mountain formations and fresh clean air. These are just 2 examples of thousands of fascinating places in China, a country which really has something for everyone.
The food, history, culture and language are so different to our own. But, if, like many of the English teachers working in China you embrace them, you will never want to leave!
Chinese students are bright, respectful and an absolute pleasure to teach. They really want to learn English and even though class sizes can be pretty large you will find them to be attentive and excitable! As a TEFL teacher you can be one of their biggest role models, and don’t be surprised if the children invite you to play basketball or ping-pong on their break time!
Our recruitment partner has placements all over China, all provinces and most cities. Jobs in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and other bigger cities often require some teaching experience though and the competition is much fiercer. Our placements are in all types of schools: Kindergarten, primary school, middle school, middle-high school, university and language training centres.
Excellent spoken and written English skills are required for this position, along with an adaptable nature, outgoing fun personality and resilience - living in China can be a big change and you really can’t be someone who gets homesick!
Intern in China
Intern positions are available with this recruiter alongside full teaching positions. Placement details are very similar, however the positions last for six months rather than twelve. This is perfect if you are not sure about committing to a long contract straight away or have a shorter time to spend in China. You also don't need a degree to be an intern in China, so these opportunities are perfect for a unique gap year!
