TEFL jobs in GreeceGreece Santorini

We have exciting opportunities for you to get your first teaching job in beautiful Greece.

These positions are open to TEFL England certified students with a university degree. A 100-hour TEFL course is highly recommended.

Overview of the position

You'll be teaching students from age eight to at least fifteen if not older. Classes last for one or sometimes two hours, and for the older pupils there is a strong orientation towards exams such as the Cambridge FCE and CPE. Depending on their age and level, most classes have lessons for a total of three or four hours per week, so you would be teaching several different classes Hours of work are normally between three and ten p.m. Monday to Friday but you may need to do some Saturday mornings especially around exam time.

Where are the placements?

Many will be in Athens, but the schools we work with are all over Greece (see our blog on life in rural Greece!).

How long are the placements for?

Generally, you will sign up for a nine-month contract from September to June.

What about the teaching?

You would normally teach for about 25 hours per week. Even if your teaching hours are less than 25, this is normally the guaranteed minimum for which you will be paid. We generally estimate that 25 hours teaching equates to a total working week of 40 hours. So, don't think it's part-time work! Nonetheless, the hours, which may seem anti-social, allow for plenty of leisure and relaxation time.

What is the pay like?

The rate of pay and other benefits that you will receive is determined by each of the schools that we represent, and so the following is only a guide to what is typical. In the 2007-2008 academic year, the average pay equalled out at about £660 a month. But this is very much just a guide!

How do I apply?

When you have completed your TEFL course with TEFL England, you can then apply for the positions by getting in touch with the TEFL England team.

This is a free service offered by TEFL England.
