TEFL Jobs in the UK
We have exciting opportunities for you to get your first teaching job under your belt in the UK before you go and teach overseas.
These positions are open to graduates of the TEFL England 70-hour TEFL course.
Overview of the position
You'll be teaching largely French, Italian and Spanish students studying at language schools on courses from 2 -8 weeks. You can teach for as little as 2 weeks and up to 8 weeks, it's your decision.
Where are the placements?
We have positions at a school in Ayr and others south of the border in Rugby, Coventry, High Wycombe, Hampshire, Somerset, Cornwall and Devon. Don't worry, there are residential opportunities if you don't live locally.
How long are the placements for?
Students come over from France, Italy and Spain to learn English on 2-week courses. You can choose whether you teach just one 2-week English course or up to four courses.
When are the placements?
Most of the placements will be for summer 2009. The exact dates still need to be confirmed, but are likely to be in July. It is the nature of summer schools in the UK that schools don't know the exact number of students and dates of courses until nearer the time.
What about the teaching?
You will be teaching primarily elementary to intermediate classes and between four and five 45-minute lessons in the morning. And, if you like, you can help out with activities and excursions in the afternoon.
What is the pay like?
4 lessons a day = £36 a day
5 lessons a day = £46
2 hours of helping with afternoon activities = £19
How do I apply?
When you have completed your 70-hour TEFL course with TEFL England, you can then apply for the positions by getting in touch with the TEFL England team. Please note, this is not a guaranteed position since you will need to pass an interview with the school.
There is no fee for this service at all.
“The course was interactive, full of activities and allows creativity.” Cory Lam, Pensions Analyst, Bristol
