Teaching English in Brazil
Jason's story
Jason took one of our accredited TEFL courses in Bristol after being encouraged to try teaching English in Brazil.
Name - Jason
Age - "over 40"!!
TEFL Course taken - Bristol, October 09
Why did you decide to take a TEFL course? - I decided to take the TEFL course after a trip to Brazil, and I was told that I would be good at teaching English.
It was my intention to work in Brazil so job vacancies were hard to come by because I had narrowed in on 1 country.
Where are you teaching at the moment? - Currently I am in a place called Jundiai which is just north of Sao Paulo.
Best classroom experience? - The best one currently was a student who bought me a small gift after landing a job that the interview was in English, and she wanted to thank me for teaching her so well (in her opinion!!)
Worst classroom experience? - Worst classroom experience was my 1st class!!! because of being so nervous!

What are your plans for the next year? - My plans............ well I would love to move permanantly to Brazil but there are many obstacles to overcome so it might take some time.
How would you sum up your experience as a TEFL teacher? - My experience as an English teacher has being very rewarding so far, to be part responsible for teaching someone a new language and seeing them develop is heartwarming.
Do you have any useful pieces of advice to give to anyone wanting to travel abroad to teach English? - As for advice............ well all I can say is never give up trying for a job and it is rewarding and an adverture.
