Who does the course?
In our combined experience of over 25 years of teaching and teacher training, it is impossible to say that a TEFL teacher belongs to any one type. We have met bricklayers teaching in Spain, retired bank managers teaching in Thailand and university graduates teaching everywhere! One thing they all have in common though, is that they were all English speakers and had a desire to try something different.
What are our graduates saying?
Which one are you?
Career change
You feel disillusioned with your current job and need to get out, you love travel, but lack the funds for anything more than a two-week holiday. You also want to have a go at something else, something that doesn't have the same stress levels and has a lot more job satisfaction.
Career breaker
Like the changer, you want to get out and experience something new, but want to be able to return to your current role. Teaching English will also add presentation and communication skills to your CV so could prove handy.
Gap year
You have graduated and before you launch yourself into a career, you want to take time out and get on with a well-deserved gap year. Funding this is tough, so earning money while you travel is a logical solution, and teaching English is the easiest way to do this.
Career finisher
You are retired and you feel you have something more to give. You may want to travel or you may want to contribute to the local community by helping the immigrant population learn English. Either way you are looking for something more fulfilling.
Expat
You want to live abroad and fund your life overseas. You may be looking to teach full time or just take the odd private lesson.
Community builder
Travel is not a big deal for you at the moment, but you would like to get stuck into some teaching. You local community needs people like you to help integrate migrant communities by teaching them English.
