This page will let you know about what it's like and what you'll be studying.
Days and hours
Weekend TEFL courses run 9am-8pm on Saturday and 9am-6pm on Sunday.
Weekday TEFL courses run 9am-6pm Monday to Wednesday. Weekday TEFL courses only run in certain locations, so check out your nearest TEFL course location.
What do I need?
- We would recommend bringing along a pen and notepad, but do remember you'll be doing lots of activities rather than being lectured at all the time!
- Wear comfortable clothing as you will be moving around and course days are long.
- Course materials, including a TEFL England coursebook and teaching resources, will be provided for you.
- Teas and coffees will be provided throughout your days on the course. Lunch is not provided, so we suggest bringing a packed lunch or money to buy food.
What will I be learning?
Unit 1 - Warmers
Introducing yourself, getting to know each other, reducing inhibitions.
Unit 2 - Classroom management
Arranging the classroom and managing your students.
Unit 3 - Getting the students to speak
Inventive ways to elicit from the students, using pictures, mime and gesture
Unit 4 - Introduction to grammar
A first look at some of the English tenses. What is the Present Perfect exactly?
Unit 5 - Foreign language lesson
A beginners lesson: find out what it's like to be on the receiving end.
Unit 6 - Controlled Practice
Practice activities: why we use them and some ideas for the classroom
Unit 7 - Free Practice
Using role play and other activities to bring your lessons to life.
Unit 8 - Games
How games can improve the learning experience.
Unit 9 - More warmers
